My Top Books List (in no particular order)
These are the best books I've found on the subject of Photoshop. I guarantee they will open your eyes.
- Photoshop LAB Color : The Canyon Conundrum and Other Adventures in the Most Powerful Colorspace. Deep, insightful, and some amazing techniques. Not for the faint of heart.
- Photoshop CS2 Bible. One of the best all-around Photoshop books. Unique in that it covers every last little bit of Photoshop's menus and tools, including the "Custom" filter.
- Adobe Photoshop Master Class: John Paul Caponigro, Second Edition. Another deep and thought provoking book. And well-developed. Guides you step by step to working with imagery in Photoshop.
- The Photoshop CS Wow! Book. This is a great all around book if you are just beginning to use photoshop. Lots of wondeful techniques. You'll learn a lot.
- Photoshop CS2 Artistry. A good step by step approach to working with Photoshop.
- Photoshop Type Effects Visual Encyclopedia. Offers very stunning and realistic Type Effects.
- Al Ward's Photoshop Productivity Toolkit: Over 600 Time–Saving Actions. Finally a book all about Actions!
- Photoshop Studio with Bert Monroy. What more needs to be said. The best photorealistic artist out there; bar none!
- Bert Monroy: Photorealistic Techniques with Photoshop & Illustrator (Digital Masters series). More great photorealistic techniques.
- Photoshop Channel Chops. Hard to find, but OH so worth it - even if it was written for PS 4, it still holds up excellent today. Get it if you can! It's all about selections and hard to understand functions in Photoshop like "Apply Image" and "Calculations"
- New Masters of Photoshop (Friends of ed Designer to Designer). I turn to this book whenever I need inspiration. It's as much about the artists and their views as it is about how they work their photoshop magic.
- New Masters of Photoshop : Volume 2 (New Masters of Photoshop)
- The PhotoshopWorld Dream Team Book, Volume 1 (Voices That Matter). A nice amalgammation of some very great Photoshop minds. Also highlights the bi-yearly Photoshop World Conferences.
Instructor Sites (in no particular order)
I thought it might be fun to highlight sites from some of the top Photoshop instructors. Sort of a list of idols and mentors. Most of the folks below can be seen performing their visual teachings at the Photoshop World conferences every 6 months. Others are sites from some popular people within the Photoshop field.
